· The 16-35/4 is sharper than the 16-35/2.8 II; not sure about the new mkIII version of the 16-35/2.8. agree, as mentioned even the older 17-40 F4 was sharper and a better buy for the money than the 16-35 f2.8 mk2, but dont know re the mk3 not been tested as yet, no experience with it.

The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens is one of my favourite lenses for landscape photography and when combined with the Canon 6D, it is a fantastic performer in low light situations. I would deter anyone who is looking to use this for portrait photography as I find when you go below 28mm, the view becomes too distorted (unless thats the effect you are looking for).
